Purpose of the Trip & Brief Itinerary*The trip will strengthen students’ understanding of the key curriculum areas of Particles, Electric and Magnetic Fields tested in their A Level exams.
CERN, European Organization for Nuclear Research, is the largest laboratory in the world, with over 13,500 scientists from 23 member states and other countries worldwide engaged in the running of the accelerators, detectors and analysing the experimental data. For nearly 70 years, CERN has been a main driver in scientific and technological innovation: the Higgs Boson was discovered in 2012 and the first World Wide Web site created by a British scientist working there in 1990.
During their visit, King’s students will have the opportunity to tour some experimental sites, visit the brand-new interactive exhibitions and participate in workshop sessions given by Physicists.
