It is a broadening of the learning experience designed to enhance the basic curriculum and place it in the wider context of the world we live in.
Enrichment is split into three strands - Skills, Service, Creative - and students are expected to choose one activity from each strand every term.
Please note that the Lifeguard Qualification and Medics courses run for the whole year and participants will be expected to complete the whole course.
These are the activities on offer to our Sixth Formers this year:
Self-Defence - this course is designed to give students a good grounding in self-defence techniques.
Lifeguard Qualification - A year-long course that gives students a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), widely recognised by pools in the UK and around the world.
Medics - Essential for aspiring medics. Amongst other things, students will cover interview skills, preparation for the UKCAT and BMAT and extra practical work.
Money Management - Practical guidance on budgeting, saving and investing, as well as a number of other critical topics.
Young Leaders - With a focus on devising health and wellbeing initiatives, students will engage with a series of workshops and tasks designed to help them become confident, organised leaders.
Seminars of Curiosity - Designed to develop critical thinking skills, analytical skills and promote confident self-expression; all key skills valued by universities and employers alike.
World Issues Debating - Using current world issues as a prompt, debate encourages students to improve their analysis and critical thinking skills.
British Sign Language - Delivered by Deafness Support Network and designed to give participants basic competency in BSL.
Schools - Students will visit a local primary school to support class teachers, helping with reading, numeracy, sport and other activities.
Care Homes - An excellent opportunity for students who want to give back to the community, as well as those who are interested in studying Medicine.
Biodiversity and Conservation - Working together, students will develop green areas on the school site, and work on providing new habitats for wildlife.
Cheshire Horse Sanctuary - An ideal option for animal lovers, students will support staff in looking after the horses, organise events and achieve fundraising goals.
Self-care Yoga and Meditation - Learn highly effective and proven techniques to reduce tension in the body and quieten the mind.
Carpentry - A practical course in which students will practise and perfect a number of skills whilst working towards individual and group projects.
Film Studies - In-depth analysis of a classic film, including study of the history of the time and reading of associated novels and texts.
Living a good life - Incorporating the core aspects of health and happiness, sessions include healthy cooking, exercise, mental health and giving back to the community.
Printmaking - Explore block printing, lino cutting and simple etching techniques.
Textile Art - Using a wide variety of media, students will learn to draw with a sewing machine and experiment with layers and textures.
